I grew up in the mining town of Coalville, Leicestershire and upon leaving school gained employment with Barclays Bank. My career path progressed from banking through estate and letting agencies to school administration until in 2009 I was appointed as Children and Families Worker in the Gornal & Sedgley Methodist Circuit (Wolverhampton & Shrewsbury District) followed by 5 years in a similar appointment in The Lizard and Mounts Bay Circuit in Cornwall. Both of these appointments involved work within churches, community and schools and included initiatives such as Open the Book, Prayer Spaces in Schools, Holiday Clubs, Light Parties and family events.
In August 2016 we relocated to Colchester where my husband Rev Steve Swann has been stationed in the Colchester circuit as a Pioneer Minister. I have recently been employed as a Learning Support Assistant at a primary school in Colchester and am delighted to now be appointed as Worker with Families and Children at Billericay Methodist Church. I am passionate about nurturing faith with people of all ages but with a particular emphasis on the family. In order to deepen my understanding of this I have undertaken a number of courses at Cliff College including a BA in Children’s and Youth Ministry and the Family and Schools Ministry Certificates.
We have two children, James and Sammi and 3 grandsons aged between 1 and 5 years and a granddaughter born in June 2017. They all live in West Sussex. We also have two Cornish cats: Sandy and Pebbles who keep us on our toes!
In my spare time I enjoy anything creative, in particular card making, as well as gardening and catching up with friends.
